Children will love helping you make hand rolls that they can enjoy as a meal or a snack in their lunchbox! You can mix and match what you put into a rice hand roll, - smoked salmon, tuna, carrots, cucumber….
Ingredients
- 1 cup sushi rice
- 1.5 cups of water
- 3 tbsp sushi seasoning
- 1 half avocado, sliced
- 1 chicken breast, sliced into strips approximately 1cm thick
- 4 nori sheets
- Optional: Japanese Mayonnaise (be wary of mayonnaises which contain msg or flavour enhances)
Method
- Cook 1 cup of rice in 1.5 cups of water in a rice cooker. Once cooked, mix in 3 tbsp sushi seasoning.
- Lay a nori sheet onto a bamboo matt if you have one, otherwise place onto a clean flat bench.
- Spread a layer of rice onto the nori sheet.
- Optional- spread a thin layer of high quality Japanese mayonnaise.
- Approximately 1/3 of the way down the sheet place a strip of chicken along the length of the nori sheet.
- Place a slice of avocado along side the chicken strip
- Roll the sheet up into a roll.
